Multiple Missing Teeth Dr Nikhil Oberai

Losing more than one tooth brings its own set of challenges and its own set of solutions. I have spent over a decade helping patients across Cheshire find a fixed, permanent answer that works for their specific situation.

Multiple missing teeth do more damage than just the gaps

Most people don’t book a dental appointment the day a tooth goes missing. They wait. They adapt. They find workarounds, the angle in photos, the foods they skip, the way they hold their expression in conversation. And then one day, months or years later, they decide enough is enough.

If that’s you, you are in exactly the right place. And the solution is more straightforward than you probably expect.

The only tooth replacement that replaces the root, not just the gap

Living with multiple missing teeth changes more than most people realise when it first happens. The gaps left behind affect how you eat, how you speak, how you feel about yourself, and over time, the health of every tooth that remains. It is one of the most underestimated dental situations I see, and one of the most treatable.

Most patients who come to see me about multiple missing teeth have already been through the options in their head. They have looked at dentures, thought about bridges, considered the cost, and found a reason to wait. The months have become years and the situation has quietly grown more complicated in the meantime.

Implant-supported treatment exists precisely for this situation. Fixed, permanent, and designed to stop the problem from progressing any further.

"I had a failed implant and bridge on two front teeth. I had been advised they were not repairable. I spent time researching implant experts in the North West and came across Nikhil. I now have two new front implants which allow me to smile."

Does any of this sound familiar?

Eating has become something you plan around

Certain textures, certain foods, certain sides of your mouth. You have built a whole set of small habits and workarounds without ever consciously deciding to. It is exhausting in a quiet, relentless sort of way.

Your confidence in how you look has changed

When multiple teeth are missing, it shows and you know it. The smile you used to give freely now requires a thought first. Social situations that used to feel easy have a layer of self-consciousness that was not there before.

You have been told a partial denture is your best option

And you tried it, or you have been told about it, and it did not feel like an answer. It felt like a compromise. Something that clips in and out. Something that moves. Something that reminds you every single day that the real teeth are gone.

The remaining teeth are under more pressure than they should be

When teeth are missing, the ones left behind work harder than they were designed to. They shift. They take on more load. And over time, a problem with several teeth can become a problem with all of them. The sooner it is addressed, the simpler the solution.

The good news is, multiple missing teeth have a fixed, permanent solution.

An implant-supported bridge replaces several missing teeth using just two or three implants, no partial denture, no grinding down of healthy adjacent teeth, and nothing you ever need to remove or think about. It is fixed in permanently, it looks exactly like natural teeth, and it stimulates the jawbone to prevent the bone loss that partial dentures cannot stop.

I have helped hundreds of patients with multiple missing teeth find a solution that genuinely restored not just their smile but their ability to enjoy life without thinking about their mouth. The difference it makes to people is not subtle. It is significant. And it happens faster than most patients expect.

What replacing multiple missing teeth actually involves

When several teeth are missing, the approach depends on how many are gone, where they are in the mouth, and how much bone is available beneath them. There is not one single answer, there are several, and part of my job at the free assessment is working out which one is right for you.

The most common solution is an implant-supported bridge. Two or three titanium posts are placed into the jawbone, and a fixed bridge of natural-looking crowns is attached on top, spanning the gap left by the missing teeth. No healthy adjacent teeth are touched. Nothing is removable. The bridge is cleaned like natural teeth and, for all practical purposes, that is exactly what it feels like.

Where more teeth are missing or the gaps are spread across the mouth, a fuller reconstruction may be needed. That might mean more implants, a different type of bridge, or in some cases a full arch solution. I will always find the most conservative, effective route for your specific situation, not the most complex or expensive one.

Here is what my patients tell me after treatment

These are the outcomes that actually matter, not the clinical features, but the real changes patients describe when they come back for their review appointments.

They eat without planning around it

Every food that had quietly been crossed off the list comes back. The workarounds and the careful chewing on one side simply stop being necessary. That sounds small until you have been doing it for two years.

They smile freely again

When multiple teeth are missing, the self-consciousness is not subtle. When the bridge is in and the smile is complete, that self-consciousness disappears. Patients describe it as feeling like themselves again, which is the best outcome there is.

Their healthy teeth are protected

The remaining teeth are no longer overworked or drifting. The bone beneath the treated area is being stimulated rather than receding. The long-term health of the whole mouth improves.

No partial denture to think about

Nothing to remove at night. No adhesive. No clips or clasps. No moment of anxiety in a restaurant or at a family dinner. A fixed implant bridge is simply part of the mouth and it stays that way.

It is the most cost-effective long-term solution

A partial denture typically needs replacing every five to eight years. A bridge needs replacing every ten to fifteen. An implant-supported bridge, looked after properly, can last a lifetime. Over twenty or thirty years, the numbers tell a clear story.

How much does it cost to replace multiple missing teeth with dental implants?

It is a fair question and here is a straight answer.

Replacing multiple missing teeth with dental implants at my practices in Northwich and Wilmslow starts from £5,900. That starting price reflects a typical case involving two implants and a bridge of three teeth. The exact cost for your case depends on how many teeth need replacing, how many implants are required, and whether any preparatory work such as bone grafting is needed. A price given without examining your CT scan is not a real quote. It is an estimate.

Your precise, written cost plan is confirmed at your free 3D Smile Assessment before you commit to anything at all.

I'm Dr Nikhil Oberai MSC & Dental Implants are all I do

When it comes to replacing multiple missing teeth, the complexity of the case matters and so does the experience of the person treating it. I hold a Master’s Degree in Dental Implantology from the University of Manchester and have been placing implants for over a decade. I also teach the MSc programme as an Honorary Clinical Teaching Fellow, which means the techniques I use in practice are the same ones being taught at postgraduate level.

I regularly treat patients with multiple missing teeth who have been through other options first, partial dentures that never quite worked, bridges that have since failed, or cases where they were told implants were not possible. Almost always, something can be done. And I will always tell you honestly what that is before you commit to anything.

“For every problem, there is a solution. It might be challenging but it is almost always possible.”

Common questions asked by my patients about multiple dental implants.

Here are the questions our multiple implant patients ask most often — answered honestly and in plain language.

At my practices in Northwich and Wilmslow, an implant-supported bridge for multiple missing teeth starts from £5,900. The exact cost depends on the number of teeth being replaced and the number of implants required. Your written quote is confirmed at your free 3D Smile Assessment. 0% finance through Tabeo is available.

It depends on how many teeth are missing and where they are. In many cases, two or three implants are enough to support a bridge of three, four, or even five teeth. I will always use the minimum number of implants needed to achieve a stable, permanent result, never more than necessary.

For most patients, yes, significantly. An implant bridge is fixed permanently, never needs removing, allows you to eat anything, and stimulates the jawbone to prevent bone loss. A partial denture is removable, can move or rub, restricts what you can eat, and does nothing to stop the bone from shrinking beneath the gaps. If you are currently wearing a partial denture, I would encourage you to come and find out whether an implant bridge is possible for your case.

Yes, in most cases. The main factor is how much bone remains at the extraction sites. Bone does resorb over time after a tooth is removed, but the free 3D CT scan will show exactly how much is there and what is possible. Where bone levels are lower, techniques such as bone grafting or alternative implant approaches can often provide a solution.

It is carried out under local anaesthetic and most patients are genuinely surprised by how comfortable it is. There may be some tenderness for a few days afterwards. Sedation is available if that would help you feel more at ease.

From your free assessment to the fitting of your permanent bridge, treatment typically takes four to six months. This includes the healing period while the implants integrate with the bone. You will have a temporary restoration throughout, so there is never a visible gap.

This is one of the most common reasons patients with multiple missing teeth are turned away elsewhere. It is rarely the end of the story. Bone grafting and other advanced techniques can rebuild the foundation needed for implants in many cases. Come and find out for certain with a proper CT scan.
