Implant Mentorship Programmes by Dr Nikhil Oberai

Whether you are placing your first implants or looking to take your existing skills to a more advanced level, these programmes give you the hands-on, one-to-one surgical experience that courses and classroom learning cannot replicate.

Most dentists develop their implant skills through courses. The ones who develop them fastest do it this way.

Courses give you theory and controlled environments. They give you the foundational knowledge you need to get started. What they cannot give you is the experience of sitting across from a real patient with a complex case, knowing you are the one making the clinical decisions, with a highly experienced implant expert alongside you who has seen exactly this presentation before.

That is what these programmes are. Not a course. Not a series of lectures. One-to-one, hands-on, live patient surgical mentorship at my working practice in Northwich over three or six months. The cases you work on are real. The decisions are yours. The support and the debrief come from someone who teaches the same subject at Masters level at the University of Manchester.

If you are serious about developing your implant practice, this is where it happens.

Who you are learning from

I hold a Master’s Degree in Dental Implantology from the University of Manchester and I teach the same programme as an Honorary Clinical Teaching Fellow. I have been placing implants for over a decade, running a 99.5% success rate across more than 1,000 cases, and I lecture across the UK on advanced surgical and restorative implant techniques. I am also a Key Opinion Leader for Osstem UK, an External Examiner for the BAIRD Implant Course, a Clinical Mentor for Cambridge Dental Academy, and a Senior Tutor on the Advanced Implant Course at Dentale Training.

The techniques you will develop through this mentorship are the same ones I use in my clinical practice every day and teach at postgraduate level. You will not be learning theory from someone who retired from the chair. You will be working alongside someone who is in it.

What a fortnightly session actually looks like

Each session runs for 10 hours at Brunner Court in Northwich. You arrive and we review where you are, what cases are on the list for the day, and what the learning objectives are for that session. We work through live patient cases together, with me alongside you throughout. After each case we debrief properly, not briefly. What went well, what could have been approached differently, and what to carry forward.

Between sessions, case discussion continues. If something comes up in your own practice that you want to talk through, you bring it to the mentorship. The learning does not stop when you leave the practice.

By the end of the programme, the goal is not that you can place an implant. It is that you can manage a case from assessment through to restoration with the clinical confidence and the technical range to handle what comes up.

These programmes are for two types of dentist

Dentists beginning their implant journey

You have the foundation knowledge from a course or formal training and you are ready to start placing implants in practice. You want structured, supported live patient experience alongside an expert who can guide the early cases and prevent the development of habits that become harder to correct later. The 3 Month Programme is designed for this starting point.

Dentists looking to take their skills further

You have been placing implants for some time and the straightforward cases are comfortable. You want to extend your range into more complex presentations, more advanced surgical techniques, and a fuller understanding of the digital workflow and aesthetic planning that separates competent from exceptional implant practice. Both the 3 and 6 Month Programmes can accommodate this depending on your starting level.

If you are not sure which programme is the right fit for where you are, contact us and we can have a brief conversation before you commit to anything.

Not sure if you're suitable? Give us a call. There's no obligation.

We understand that choosing a dental implant is a significant decision. Our team is here to answer any questions, with no pressure, no sales tactics, and no obligation to proceed.

Louise Barks, Practice Coordinator, Brunner Court

Louise is your point of contact from the moment you register your interest through to the completion of your programme. She has been part of the Brunner Court team since 2018 and works closely with me on everything related to the mentorship programmes. She handles all the scheduling, answers the practical questions, and makes sure the logistics of each session work around your diary as smoothly as possible.

If you have a question before registering, Louise is the person to speak to. She will give you a straight, helpful answer and let you know what the next step is.

What dentists ask before registering

All sessions are held at Brunner Court Dental and Implant Practice, 95 Witton Street, Northwich, CW9 5DR. The practice is well equipped for implant surgery and has a high volume of implant cases, which is what makes the live patient experience possible.

Each session is one-to-one. It is just you and me, working through cases together. There are no group sessions and no other mentees in the room. The entire 10 hours of each session is dedicated to your development.

I use the Osstem TSIII system, for which I am a Key Opinion Leader with four years of clinical partnership. You will develop familiarity with this system throughout the programme. If you are already using a different system in your own practice, we can discuss how the techniques translate.

For the 3 Month Programme, you should have completed foundational implant training through a recognised course and be ready to move into live patient work. For the 6 Month Programme, some prior implant placing experience is preferable. If you are unsure whether your current level is the right entry point, contact Louise and we can have a conversation before you commit.
