Dental Implants by Dr Nikhil Oberai

Whether you have lost one tooth or many, I have spent over a decade helping people across Cheshire find a permanent, natural-looking solution that gives them their smile and their confidence back.

A missing tooth affects more than you realise

Dental implants have become one of the most life-changing treatments in modern dentistry, and the reason is simple. A missing tooth is never just a cosmetic problem. It affects how you eat, how you speak, how you feel about yourself in a room full of people, and over time, the health of the teeth and bones around it.

The patients I see most often are not in acute pain. They have been quietly managing a situation for months or years, adapting around a gap that has gradually changed more about their daily life than they ever expected when they first lost the tooth.

Do any of the points below sound familiar?

You have quietly started avoiding certain foods

The foods that need a proper bite, crusty bread, apples, anything chewy. You have drifted away from them so gradually you barely noticed it happening.

Smiling has become something you think about

The closed lips in photos. The slight hesitation before laughing. The way you hold your expression around people you have just met. It has become automatic but it did not used to be.

You worry about what is happening to the teeth around the gap

A missing tooth does not stay a simple problem. Adjacent teeth gradually drift into the space. The jawbone beneath begins to recede. What starts as one gap can quietly become a more complex situation.

You have been told your case might be too complicated

Low bone density. A history of gum disease. Failed treatment. These are the reasons patients get turned away. In my experience, they are rarely the end of the story.

The good news is, a dental implant can fix all of this, for good.

Dental implants are not a workaround or a temporary measure. They are the only tooth-replacement solution that replicates a natural tooth from root to crown, giving you back the ability to eat, smile, and speak without thinking about it.

A titanium post is placed into the jawbone where the missing tooth was. It fuses with the surrounding bone, exactly the way a natural root would and a custom-made crown is fitted on top. The result looks, functions, and feels identical to the tooth that was there before. You brush it. You forget it is there. That is the point.

I have placed thousands of implants at my practices in Northwich and Wilmslow over more than a decade. What I find most rewarding is not the clinical outcome, it is the patient who comes back six weeks later and tells me they had a steak at the weekend for the first time in three years. Or the one who finally let someone take a photo at their daughter’s wedding. Those are the moments that matter.

Here is what a dental implant actually is

When a tooth is lost, two things go with it: the visible tooth above the gumline and the root beneath it. Most replacement options only deal with the first part. Dental implants deal with both.

A small titanium post, about the size of a small screw, is placed into the jawbone where the missing tooth used to be. That post acts as the new root. Over several weeks, it fuses with the surrounding bone through a completely natural process. Once that bond is secure, a custom-made porcelain crown is attached on top.

The implant itself is invisible. What you and everyone around you see is a natural-looking tooth that matches the size, shape, and colour of the teeth around it. There is nothing to remove at night, no special cleaning routine, and no reason for anyone to know it is not the tooth you were born with.

Here is exactly what happens, no surprises

From your very first call to the moment your permanent teeth are fitted, here is what the process looks like — and nothing moves forward until you are completely ready.

1
Starting point

Free 3D Smile Assessment

Your consultation is completely free and includes a full cone beam CT scan of your jaw. That scan gives me a precise picture of your bone density, nerve positions, and the exact anatomy of the area. You leave with a written treatment plan and a complete cost breakdown to take home. No pressure to proceed

Free  ·  Approximately 45 minutes
2
Before we begin

Full Case Assessment

Before any treatment begins, I carry out a comprehensive examination and review your CT scan in detail. This is where I confirm which implant solution is right for your specific situation and walk you through each stage. If sedation would make the experience more comfortable for you, that option is always available.

Clinical planning  ·  Tailored to your case

The procedure

Implant Placement

Under local anaesthetic, I place the titanium post or posts into the jawbone. For most cases this takes 45 to 90 minutes. A temporary crown or bridge is fitted the same day where possible, so you never leave with a visible gap. Most patients tell me it was far more comfortable than they had expected.

Day procedure  ·  45–90 minutes

While you recover

Healing & Integration

Over the following 6 to 12 weeks, your implant fuses with the surrounding bone — a natural process called osseointegration. You carry on with your normal life throughout. I check in with you at regular intervals and my team is always available if you have any questions.

Connecting the pieces

Abutment Placement

Once the implant has fully integrated, I attach a small connector piece to the top of the post. This links the implant to your final crown or bridge. A quick, straightforward appointment with minimal discomfort.

Short appointment  ·  Minimal discomfort

The moment it all comes together

Your Permanent Crown is Fitted

Your custom-made crowns or bridge are designed to match the exact colour, shape, and size of your natural teeth. I take considerable care over this stage — the finished result should be indistinguishable from the real thing, because that is exactly what you deserve.

"From start to finish Nikhil and the team were fantastic. Being extremely nervous and worried, I was put at ease straightaway. Everything was explained, every process was faultless."

Here's what my patients tell me after treatment

These are not clinical advantages from a textbook. These are the things patients actually describe when they come back for their review appointments.

They smile without thinking about it

The self-consciousness that built up over months or years disappears. Not gradually — completely. They stop managing their expression. They stop thinking about the angle in photos. They get their smile back and they stop giving it a second thought.

They eat whatever they want

Crusty bread. Steak. Apples. Everything they had quietly stopped ordering comes back on the menu. Implants handle the same biting and chewing forces as natural teeth — no restrictions, no second-guessing.

Their surrounding teeth stay exactly as they are

Implants stand completely independently. I never touch a tooth that does not need to be touched. No grinding down adjacent teeth to support a bridge. No compromise elsewhere in the mouth.

Their jawbone stays healthy

When a tooth root is lost, the bone beneath begins to shrink. An implant stimulates the bone exactly the way a natural root does. That process stops. The face maintains its natural structure and shape.

It is the last tooth replacement they will ever need

With normal brushing, flossing, and regular check-ups, the titanium root of a dental implant can last a lifetime. No replacing it every decade. No going back. It is done.

How much do dental implants cost in Cheshire?

It’s the question I get asked most often before a first consultation and I think it’s a completely fair question. So here is a straight answer.

Single tooth implants at my practices in Northwich and Wilmslow start from £2,550. That is a complete treatment price it includes your free CT scan, the implant itself, the abutment, a temporary crown, your permanent custom porcelain crown, and all follow-up appointments during the treatment period. No hidden costs.

The honest caveat is this: every patient’s case is different. Bone density, anatomy, whether a bone graft is needed, these affect the final figure. A price quoted without seeing your scan is a guess. The precise, written cost for your specific situation is confirmed at your free 3D Smile Assessment, before you commit to anything.

From £2,550 includes:

  • Free 3D CT scan and consultation with me personally
  • Titanium implant placement, Osstem TSIII system, 99.5% success rate
  • Healing abutment and temporary crown
  • Custom porcelain crown, matched to your natural teeth
  • All follow-up care during treatment
  • Full written treatment plan to take home

I'm Dr Nikhil Oberai MSC & Dental Implants are all I do

Implants are not something I do alongside other dental work. They are all I do. I hold a Master’s Degree in Dental Implantology from the University of Manchester, and I teach the same programme as an Honorary Clinical Teaching Fellow, which means the techniques I bring to my patients are the same ones being taught at postgraduate level.

Over a decade. More than 1,000 cases. A 99.5% success rate. I also regularly take on the cases that other practices have declined, patients with low bone density, complex anatomy, failed treatment placed abroad, or situations that have been written off as impossible. My view on all of them is the same: there is almost always a solution. It might be more challenging than a straightforward case. But I will always look for it.

“For every problem, there is a solution. It might be challenging but it is almost always possible.”

Common questions that my patients ask about Dental Implants

Here are the questions our dental implant patients ask most often — answered honestly and in plain language.

At my practices in Northwich and Wilmslow, a single tooth implant starts from £2,550. A full arch reconstruction starts from £11,500. The exact cost depends on your specific case and is confirmed at your free 3D Smile Assessment. 0% finance through Tabeo is available, with monthly payments from approximately £71 per month.

A dental implant is a small titanium post placed into the jawbone that acts as an artificial tooth root. Once it has fused with the bone through a natural process called osseointegration, a custom-made crown or bridge is attached on top. The result looks, functions, and feels identical to a natural tooth.

Most adults in reasonable health are suitable for dental implants. The key factors are bone density and gum health. If you have been told you are unsuitable elsewhere, often due to low bone density, it is worth getting a second opinion. A free 3D CT scan gives a definitive, precise answer for your specific case.

The procedure is carried out under local anaesthetic and the vast majority of patients tell me it was far more comfortable than they expected, often comparing it favourably to a tooth extraction. There may be mild tenderness for a day or two afterwards. Sedation is also available if that would help.

With normal care, brushing, flossing, and regular check-ups, the titanium root component can last a lifetime. My implant success rate of 99.5% across more than 1,000 cases reflects this. The crown on top may need replacing after 15 to 20 years.

This is something I hear regularly. Patients told their bone is too low, their gum disease too severe, or their case too complex. I take on these cases routinely and in the vast majority of situations, a solution exists. Come and find out for certain before you give up.

All-on-4 gives you a complete set of fixed teeth permanently attached to four implants. You do not remove them. They do not move. You eat everything, clean them like natural teeth, and forget they are there. A full denture is removable, requires adhesive, restricts what you can eat, and does not prevent the jawbone from shrinking beneath it. For patients who are suitable, the difference in quality of life is significant.
