Marta is one of those cases I find genuinely wonderful to reflect on. Not because it was unusually complex clinically, but because of the consistency of the outcome over time. On the day of surgery, the remaining upper teeth were carefully extracted and six Osstem implants were placed in the same appointment. A temporary fixed bridge was then secured to the implants before Marta left the practice.
She walked out smiling. That is the thing she mentioned most clearly at her next appointment and it is the thing I remember most clearly from that day. She had come in very unhappy with her smile. She left with a complete, fixed set of upper teeth on the same day as the surgery. After a healing period of 12 weeks, during which the implants integrated fully with the jawbone, the construction of the permanent bridge began. A chrome framework was fabricated and individual teeth were built onto it, designed through the staged impression and try-in process to achieve the aesthetic result we had planned together. Long-term patient satisfaction with full arch implant treatment is not automatic. It depends on the quality of the surgical planning, the precision of the prosthetic work, the attention given to the bite and the load distribution, and the integrity of the materials used.
